Settings Up Dial-Up Internet Connectivity For Windows 2000
Click
on the Start button in lower left corner of screen.
Go to
Settings and click on Network and Dial-up Connections.
Double-click Make a New Connection.
Select
Dial-up to the Internet. Click next.
Select
I want to set up my Internet connection manually,
or I want to connect through my local area network (LAN).
Click next.
Select
Connect using my phone line. Click next.
Leave
Area code section blank. Enter the 10-digit
access number for your area in the Telephone
number box.Make sure you use the local phone
number for your area.
Remove
the check mark in front of Use area code and dialing
rules. Click the Advanced button.
Click
the connection tab. Under the connection type
select PPP (Point to Point Protocol).
Under
logon procedure select none.
Click
the addresses tab. Under IP address select
Internet service provider automatically provides one.
Under DNS server address select My ISP
automatically provides a Domain Name Server (DNS) address.
Click OK.
Type
your username and password, all lowercase
no spaces. Click next
Under
connection name type Everest.
Click next.
A
dialog box will ask if you want to set up your e-mail
account. Select yes. Click next.
Enter
your name, as you want it to display on your email
messages. Click next.
Enter
your email address, all lower case, no spaces.
Click next.
Select POP3 in first box.
Under incoming mail server enter pop.everestkc.net.
Under outgoing mail server enter smtp.everstkc.net.
Click next.
Enter
your Account name then your Password,
all lower case, no spaces.
Click next.
Your computer
is ready to connect to the Internet!
